Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year!! I love when September comes around, I can feel, smell, and almost taste fall on the air. So today I’m sharing two fall simple syrups featuring 2 of my more favorite seasonal flavors: pumpkin spice & pear. They’re really simple to make, delicious, & can be used in plenty of applications.

Pumpkin Spice Simple Syrup

Pumkin Spice SyrupI love pumpkin spice as much as the next person, but I don’t always have the time to swing by the coffee shop to grab one. And let’s be honest, everyone’s definition of pumpkin spice is not the same. I find a lot of them to be entirely too syrupy sweet or just not pumpkin-y enough. So I went in search of a recipe so I could control both the quality of ingredients and the flavor profile. And courtesy of LovelyOnTheInside (from TikTok), I came across this recipe.

I did end up using slightly more vanilla extract, but I was just going with my spirit on that one. ☺️

Ingredients:

  • Water- 1 cup
  • Pumpkin puree- 1/3 cup
  • Sugar- 1/2 cup
  • Brown sugar- 1/2
  • Pumpkin pie spice- 1/2 tsp
  • Vanilla extract- 1/2 tsp

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat
  2. Simmer for 15 mins
  3. Take off heat and add vanilla
  4. Let it cool, then bottle
@thespiritedtraveler Fall is the perfect time for Pumpkin Spice syrup! I found this recipe courtesy of @Lovely on the Inside & it’s super easy to make & quite delicious. I used raw sugar instead of white, & may have added a tab more vanilla than the recipe called for, but it’s simply lovely. #TheSpiritedTraveler #GetSpirited #PumpkinSpiceSyrup #PumpkinSpice ♬ In The Forest (Acoustic Indie No Copyright) – Instrumental – Lesfm & Olexy

Spiced Pear Simple Syrup

I had some super ripe pears about to go bad, so I decided to try my hand at making a spiced pear syrup. Not knowing where to start, and uninterested in doing a lot research, I decided to just go experiment.

Simple syrup is super easy to make, so I used my regular base and just made this recipe up off the cuff. I was going for something between apple cider and chai, & the measurements are a bit “go with the flow-ish”, but I’m pleasantly surprised by the end results.

Ingredients:

  • 3-4 chopped ripe pears
  • Water- 2 cups
  • Sugar- 1 cup
  • Cinnamon sticks- 2
  • Freshly grated ginger- medium sized chunk
  • Black peppercorn- 5-7
  • cloves- 2
  • cardamom pod-1
  • Lemon slices- 2

Directions:

  1. Add water and sugar to a small saucepan over medium heat
  2. Warm and stir until sugar melts
  3. Add in all remaining ingredients
  4. Let simmer for 15 mins
  5. Take off heat and mash the pears up
  6. Let mixture sit another 15 mins or so, to cool down
  7. Strain mash and bottle syrup
@thespiritedtraveler I love incorporating the flavors of the season in my beverages, so I decided to salvage the last of my pears to make a spiced syrup. This is a custom creation as I just went with my gut on theflavor profile. I gotta say, it turned out supper yummy! #TheSpiritedTraveler #GetSpirited #SpicedPearSyrup #FallCocktails ♬ In The Forest (Acoustic Indie No Copyright) – Instrumental – Lesfm & Olexy
