After enjoying a wonderful & spirited brunch at Bounty on Broad, I was invited back to sample their new fall cocktail line up. And though I gave it my best-est effort, to get through all 8 on the list, I didn’t quite make it. I did, however, manage to get in five of their delicious fall cocktails, PLUS a bonus beverage I think would make a great Christmas drink. …And possibly another Bloody Mary, cos why not. 😉

Without further ado, here are my impressions of Bounty’s fall cocktail line up courtesy of stellar bartenders Erma and Naomi.

Pumpkin Spice White Russian

First up, let’s talk about the Pumpkin Spice White Russian (PSWR). This wonderful concoction is a mix of coffee, Irish cream, Kahlua, pumpkin spice liqueur, & vodka. This tastes like a crisp fall morning in a cup.

This is a perfect addition to the usual brunch cocktail suspects: Mimosa, Bloody Mary, & Screwdriver. The PSWR is served cold, even though it has coffee in it. It’s very creamy, sweet, & flavorful. The cool thing about it is it comes served in two parts: the cocktail glass contains all of the dark ingredients, and the Irish cream and pumpkin spice liqueur are served on the side in a little cream dispenser. I took more joy than was probably necessary in pouring the two & watching them swirl together.

Overall, a very tasty brunch cocktail. A little on the creamy sweet side, so I’d probably make it my after brunch cocktail in place of dessert.

Spiced Pear Gin Fizz

Next up, the Spiced Pear Gin Fizz. This cocktail combines gin, pear liqueur, thyme syrup, lemon juice, & egg white. The resulting cocktail is light and delicate, with hints of sweet pear grounded by the woody thyme. In other words, right up my alley.

I really enjoyed this one, it made me feel as if I were at sitting at a 1930’s style bar, hobnobbing with high society. Very sophisticated and dainty, yet it packs a nice punch. So if you’re in the mood for something different with a slight herbal, sweetness about it, this one is for you.

Of all the cocktails I tried, this one had the most “Bespoke” vibe. The Spiced Pear Gin Fizz is most definitely Spirited Traveler approved.

Thanksgiving Punch

This‏ tastes like fall harvest in a glass. Seriously. This is what I imagine chilling in a orchard with friends around a fire tastes like.

This drink is nearly perfect. The only thing that could make it better is serving it warm. But after a good five mins of brainstorming with Erma about how this could be accomplished, we couldn’t come up with anything conclusive to accomplish this. Oh, well, it’s still delicious chilled.

So, this wonderful punch is made with brandy, Long Road Cider (which if you’ve never had, you are truly missing out on some excellent hard cider), Fireball, & cranberry juice. Now, I know this sounds like a dice roll of liquors in one container (and it is-lol) but it is truly tasty. And the perfect beverage to enjoy around a fire pit, if you can’t find an orchard- lol.

Bloody Pain Killer

The Painkiller is actually a tropical drink, and one of the first cocktails I made when I first got started on my spirited path. I was initially drawn to it because it think it’s a nice tweak to a traditional Pina Colada. Now, you’re probably wondering  just what  in the world a tropical drink has to do with fall cocktails…. So let me tell you how this got on the menu.

Erma wanted to include something fruity to the menu and thought the drizzle of grenadine was reminiscent of blood. So in the spirit of Halloween, the Bloody Painkiller made the list. It tastes just like a traditional Painkiller (minus the nutmeg) and contains Gosling’s Dark Rum, white rum, pineapple, coconut cream, & a grenadine drizzle.

Let me tell you, delicious. So much so, the guest sitting beside me was encouraged to order one based solely on the reaction to my first sip. I’ll warn you, it is a bit sweet and thick, so you may want to save it for after your meal.

Remaining Fall Cocktails

So, I only managed to get through half of the fall cocktails on the menu in this tasting session. But I’d be remiss if I didn’t give a shout out to the rest of the fall lineup:

  1. Fig Old Fashioned: bourbon, fig syrup, orange bitters
  2. The Blushing Bubble: vodka, vanilla syrup, peach liquor, lemon, sparkling rosé
    • So…. turns out I sampled this one too. 🙂 As I was looking through the images I snapped & came across it. This was towards the end of the tasting,  as we were winding down, so I didn’t do a full recap. But it is truly delish & refined. Very bespoke and I felt super fancy sipping on it. I included the picture in the galley below.
  3. Double Dog Dublin: Jack Daniels, brandy, black walnut bitters, coffee, whipped cream
  4. Rum Plum Smash: Captain Morgans, Tattersall Prange Crème, lemon juice, plum bitters, smoked star anise, thyme syrup

Life is Delicious

And just when I thought I was done (cos by this point I was quite a few samples in 🙂 ), Erma pulled out a surprise cocktail for me to try. This one is not fall, per se, but it is quite tasty. He called it Life is Delicious, and I must admit it is.

It contains Vodka, cream, strawberry syrup, & mint. That’s it, very simple and very delicious.  I think it’d make the perfect drink for your holiday celebrations this year. You could even make this one nonalcoholic by subbing out the vodka for Sprite or Ginger Ale.

Do yourself a favor, drop by Bounty on Broad and check out the food (trust me, it’s delicious!) & the new fall cocktail line up for yourself. Tell Erma and Naomi I sent ya!
